Meet Captain Robert Braley

Meet Captain Robert Braley Of Maykin Baykin Charters

Captain Robert Braley is a veteran of the water with over 40 years of fishing experience on Lake Michigan. Born with a passion for the outdoors and a deep respect for the lake, he began fishing these waters in 1980. His career started with 12 years in commercial fishing, captaining a shrimping boat out of Corpus Christi, Texas. That hands-on experience in the Gulf helped shape his strong foundation in marine navigation and fish behavior—skills that now make him a respected name in Michigan’s charter fishing community.

By 1991, Captain Robert transitioned into the charter fishing world, and it didn’t take long for him to make a mark. After purchasing his own vessel, he founded Maykin Baykin Charters and built a loyal customer base that continues to grow each season. His participation in local Lake Michigan fishing tournaments further demonstrates his dedication to the craft, as he consistently showcases a deep understanding of where and how to find Salmon, Trout, and Steelhead throughout the year.

Specializing in trolling, Captain Robert expertly works the waters with a keen eye on structure, water temperature, and current movement. His refined techniques make every trip efficient and rewarding, whether you’re a first-time angler or a seasoned fisherman. Known for using top-tier gear like Shimano rods and reels, he ensures each line is strategically placed to maximize opportunities for a successful catch. His calm demeanor and thorough approach make every charter informative, safe, and enjoyable.
